Friends of the Scituate Town Library
The Friends of the Scituate Town Library is a volunteer, non-profit organization, advocating a strong public library system and actively supporting Scituate Town Library.
The Friends believe strongly that libraries are our windows to the world and need all the attention and support we can give.
The Friends raise money through memberships, donations, and the sale of used books. The money raised becomes available for various needs of Scituate Town Library. The Friends have provided the library with books, CDs, DVDs, summer reading paperbacks, as well as funds for concerts, author appearances, book groups, Children's Room toys, Mama Steph programs and much more.
The Museum Pass Program is funded by the group as well. This program provides discount passes to New England Aquarium, Boston Children’s Museum, Institute of Contemporary Art, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Plimoth Plantation, Museum of Science, Franklin Park Zoo & Stone Zoo, Peabody Essex Museum, Mystic Aquarium, USS Constitution Museum, South Shore Children's Museum, and South Shore Natural Science Center.
Find more information on Museum Passes here.
All library users are invited to become members of the Friends of the Scituate Town Library. Membership forms are available at the library or click here for one. Donations to the Friends of the Scituate Town Library are always welcome.
The Friends group is excited to announce that it will have a Book Store inside the newly renovated Branch Street facility! The Book Store will be supplied through donations of used books from the public and staffed by volunteers from the Friends. Donations of books cannot be received until close to the time when the new library building will be open. Watch for library announcements.
